the coastal moment is now.

Be a part of the movement as we prepare to see coastal LAUNCH at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Go Coastal Rowing was founded to promote and support the sport of World Rowing (FISA) coastal rowing, and to be the driving force behind the adoption and development of coastal rowing throughout the United States.

We embrace diversity and promote a fun beach and water activities culture.

Coastal rowing brings a new set of challenges to flat-water rowers: navigating wind, waves, and current while racing around buoys in open waters.

The Coastal World Championships are held annually, and there’s a movement to get the sport included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

history

Flat water rowing has drawn participants and competitors for over 250 years, and thrived in locations with access to lakes and rivers. But in pockets like New England and the U.S. West coast, open water clubs row more stable seaworthy hulls for recreation and now, at a growing number of regattas. Coastal rowers often prefer rough water which adds a whole new dimension to the sport with many coastal rowers cherishing the exhilarating aspect of rowing in extreme conditions.

vision

Taking advantage of the extensive U.S. coastline, coastal rowing brings the sport to highly populated areas with limited resources to support flat water training and racing. Coastal rowing is prominent in Europe, and a World Championship is currently supported by World Rowing. We are excited about inclusion in the 2026 Junior Olympics, and being on the schedule for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
